Kingsford-Kurt A. Massicotte, age 54, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Manorcare Health Services in Kingsford, surrounded by his family.

He was born August 25, 1964, in Iron Mountain, Mich., son of Leon and Cynthia (Powell) Massicotte. Kurt was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Kingsford High School, class of 1982. While growing up he started ski jumping at the age of 3, a love that his father passed on to him, and has been active in the sport since that time. Kurt’s father preceded him in death at a very young age but his passion for ski jumping continued to grow over the years. He traveled throughout the Midwest where he participated as a competitor. Kurt has been an active member of the Kiwanis Ski Club for over 50 years, both as a competitor and most recently as the hill captain for the local Giant Pine Mountain Ski Tournament. He married Susan Rochon on May 13, 2000 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Norway, Mich. Kurt worked in industrial construction at the power plant in White Pine for a few years before taking a position as maintenance engineer for Grede Foundry where he was presently employed.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, and was known by all to be a handy man who could always be counted on. He will be missed by his family and numerous friends.

Survivors include his wife, Susie; one son, Dayne Massicotte and one daughter, Maggy Massicotte, both of Kingsford; his mother, Cynthia Massicotte, Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, Mich.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Karen Rochon, Loretto, Mich.; two brothers, David Massicotte, Kingsford and Kevin (Kim) Massicotte, Kingsford; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and three dogs, Willie, Homer and Bella.

In addition to his father, Leon, Kurt was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Ken Rochon, 1995.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Norway, Mich. Funeral services will be Saturday, 1:00 p.m. at the church. Pastor Michael Langlais will officiate.
