Obituary for Khin MaLay Shein
Iron Mountain - Khin MaLay Shein (Betty), 93, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away in her sleep on Friday August 18, 2023 at her home.
Betty was born August 8, 1930, in Myanmar, daughter to Dr. G and Daw (Kyaing) Dass.
Betty received her Master’s Degree at the University of London and went on to be a Geography Professor and Chairman of the Department of Geography at the University of Yangon, Myanmar.
She was deeply religious and practiced her faith throughout her daily life. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and her pets.
She is survived by her husband, Maung Shein; son Tint (Cheryl) Shein; daughter Dr. Nilar Shein; special dog Louie P.; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and, grandnephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. G. Dass and Daw Kyaing, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
