Obituary for Kay Ann Villa (Goddard)

Iron Mountain- Kay Ann Villa, 73, of Iron Mountain, Mich., unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023.

She was born on March 15, 1950, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, daughter of the late Alvin and Betty (Noll) Goddard. Kay grew up in Muskegon, Mich., and graduated from Reese Puffer, class of 1968. She then moved on to Northern Michigan University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1973. Kay married Douglas Villa on June 14, 1975, in Iron Mountain, Mich., at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church, which was the start of the Villa chaos. Kay and Douglas were a devoted couple, spending 48 years of endless love together.

In the beginning of Kay’s career, she worked as a registered nurse and also taught at St. Luke’s School of Nursing. As her family grew, she devoted her life to her family. Even as a busy and amazing wife and mother of 5 girls, she continued to stay active in the schools and the community. Kay’s love was deep, selfless, and compared to no other. She had a heart of gold, was so much fun, and was generous beyond compare. Kay loved spoiling her family, especially at Christmas time. She was the most beautiful person inside and out. Kay made a difference during her time on Earth, touching the lives of so many. Not only with her family, but she was also welcoming and loving to all. Kay had a fun-loving spirit, adventurous and always young-hearted.

She was loved by many, and leaves behind her husband, Douglas Villa; her five daughters, Nicole Smith (Zach Smith), Heather Kepinski (Joe Kepinski), Julia Napper (Mercer Napper), Kalyn Lorenz (Stephan Lorenz), Jacki Villa (Fiancé, Chris Kaminski); 14 grandchildren and counting, Olivia, Ella, Alexandria, Everly, Addie, Brynlee, Vaida, Mercer, Veston, Axel, Isabel, Hendrik, Erich, Owen; three brothers, Jeff (Cheri) Goddard, Steve Goddard, and Bob (Jenny) Goddard; two sisters, Pat (Dale) Farmer, and Sally Goddard; one brother-in-law, Terry (Colleen) Villa; four sisters-in-law, Sandy (Tom) Mogush, Sue (Dan) Fallon, Sally (Tom) Groleau, and Sara (Dave) Michals; and by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Betty (Noll) Goddard; and her parents-in-laws, Douglas and Lucille Villa (Broullire).

There’s a very special place in Heaven for a mother of five girls. She is loved beyond measure and will be so missed.
