Obituary for Katherine M. Buchner (Smith)

Iron Mountain-Katherine M. Buchner, age 86, of Iron Mountain, Mich., former longtime resident of Pembine, Wis., passed away Monday, March 4, 2019, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain.

She was born January 15, 1933, in Dunbar, Wis., daughter of the late Kenneth and Harriet (Newling) Smith. Katherine grew up in Pembine and graduated from Pembine High School, class of 1951. She married Allen Buchner on June 7, 1951, at the First Presbyterian Church in Pembine. They resided in Pembine. Allen preceded her in death 2004. Katherine worked as a waitress for many years at the Port Restaurant, the Boat Factory in Wausaukee, and for over 10 years at the Quinnesec Paper Mill in security, retiring in 2006.

Katherine’s favorite activities included golfing at Four Seasons, bowling, embroidery, and she cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Bob (Lisa) Buchner, Iron Mountain; two daughters, Bonnie (Wally) Rogers, Menasha, Wis. and Charlene (Paul) Linsmeyer, Vulcan, Mich.; one brother, Kenneth Smith, Neenah, Wis.; one sister, Vivian Weiss, Spokane, Wash.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband Allen, Katherine was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Joseph Buchner; and one brother, Dennis Smith.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 10, 2019, 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. A time of sharing will be celebrated Sunday, 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Katherine’s niece, Lori Gravell will lead in the sharing of memories.
