Obituary for June Marion Kirtley (Hill)

Kingsford- June Marion Kirtley, 94, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020, at Freeman Nursing & Rehab., Kingsford, Mich.

She was born July 31, 1926, in Palmer, Mich., daughter of the late Jalmer and Hilma ( Koistinen) Hill. June grew up and was raised in Negaunee, Mich. She married Woodrow Wilson Kirtley on April 5, 1947 in Detroit, Mich. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1972. June and Woodrow raised their family in Detroit where she was active with the Jehovah Witnesses. In 1972 she moved back to Negaunee and shortly after in 1975 June moved to Kingsford to be closer to her son and continued her work with the Jehovah Witnesses.

She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, and her many friends.

Survivors include two sons, David (Patricia) Kirtley, Fraser, Mich. and Gary (Barbara) Kirtley, Aurora, Wis.; three brothers, Daniel Hill, Wisconsin, Arthur Stevie Hill, Ishpeming, Mich. and Bruce Hill, Negaunee, Mich.; one sister, Verona (David) Wehmanen, Negaunee, Mich.; 8 grandchildren, David Kirtley Jr., Shayla Monterra, Wendy Barnas, Michael Kirtley, Jessica (Jason) Winans, Andrea Kirtley, Sonja (Brandon) Truscio, and Gary Kirtley II; 11 great-grandchildren, Illana Kirtley, Shane Monterra, Kayla Barnes, Ariel Kirtley, Nova Winans, Rayne Winans, Bryan Winans, David Kirtley III, Brandon Kirtley, Jeremy Kirtley and Kevin Kirtley; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Ronin Kirtley and Scarlet Kirtley; many nieces and nephews; many close friends including, Betty Muenzberg, Terri Gregory, Marilyn Mitchell, Martha Stagall and Laura Ambriz.

In addition to her parents and husband, Woodrow, June was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Arvid Hill, Melvin Hill, Berhard Hill and Einar Johnson; six sisters, Betty Logan, Virginia King, Eline Pepin, Alice Dahlstrom, Sharon Lequia and Gail Jandron; and step-mother, Olli Hill.
