Obituary for Joyce M Wilinski (Holewinski)

Kingsford-Joyce M Wilinski, 76, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, with her family at her side. She was born on March 18, 1947, and adopted in 1950 by Walter and Phyliss Holewinski.
On January 20, 1968, she was united in marriage to her soulmate Ronald Wilinski.

She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, helping raise four boys, Timothy, Michael, Jeffrey, and Andrew.
She made some of the suits and all the ties for Ron when he got promoted to supervisor and later as Postmaster at the Post Office and most of the clothes for the boys. She was an active member of the Foxy Loxy Red Hat Ladies, for many years.

When they moved to Wausau, Wisc., she was the seamstress for a bridal shop downtown until they moved again in 1986 to Iron Mountain, Mich., where Ron got promoted to Postmaster and she got a job at a bridal shop two weeks before Ron was installed as Postmaster. She worked for a few years and started up her own seamstress shop, Alterations Etc., in downtown Iron Mountain, where she did all types of alterations, bridal, leather, sheer, work clothes, etc. She had a large clientele until she could no longer do it because of a large brain tumor in her frontal lobe the size of a fist. She had the large tumor removed and had to go through extensive rehab. She was always upbeat and always willing to help anyone. Unfortunately, 22 years later, the brain tumor came back, and she always remained her upbeat self.

Joyce and Ron did a lot of volunteer work for Bingo Kitchen, preparing food for special events, planting, watering, weeding, and hedge trimming for the Knights of Columbus and American Martyrs Church. They also volunteered themselves and helped many friends and families that needed their help. They loved walking hand in hand daily.

Joyce and Ron loved to garden and dance and even took dance lessons. They would go to all sports events that their kids and grandkids played in.

She is survived by her husband, Ron; four sons and their wives/fiancé, Tim and Kelly Wilinski, Mike and Tracey Wilinski, Jeff and Jen Wilinski, and Andy Wilinski (Marilyn Mancuso); grandkids, Megan, Nolan, Brad, Jon, Jack, Vivvy, Hunter, Aubrey, Jemma, and Gabe; also, great-granddaughter, Kendall; and many nieces; nephews; and friends.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Dickinson County Hospice, especially Tammy (Hospice), Emily (Social Worker), and Perri (Hospice). They all were so personable, compassionate, knowledgeable, and understanding, and they answered all our questions and trained us on how to keep Joyce as pain-free as possible. We are so fortunate here in Dickinson County to have everyone involved with a quality staff as Hospice is. Again, a great big thanks from the family.

Visitation will be from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at American Martyrs Catholic Church, Kingsford, Michigan, with Msgr. Joseph O. Gouin officiating.
