Obituary for John F Knapp Jr.
Iron Mountain – John F. Knapp, Jr., 65, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center – Dickinson in Iron Mountain.
John was born on May 29, 1958, in Ontonagon, Mich., to the late John F. and Maxine O. (Doyle) Knapp. He grew up in Ontonagon and attended Ontonagon High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country from 1976 until his discharge in 1978.
Upon returning from his time in the service, he moved to Iron Mountain, and began his career in home construction in Dickinson and Iron County. He was a good friend to so many and was known to be a jokester at times. His best friend and faithful pet companion for the last four years, Gypsy Rose, who gave him much love and he in return, preceded him in death on August 24, 2023.
John is survived by his son, Nick; daughters, Krystal, Danielle, and Jennifer; his brothers, Tony and Fred; his sisters, Tami, Pam, Cassie, Megan, Tiana, and Joanne; grandchildren, Nicholas, Hunter, Andrew, Trent, and Logan; and many friends.
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on June 1, 2024, with further details being announced at a later date.
