Obituary for John C. "Bimbo" Constantini

Iron Mountain- John C. “Bimbo” Constantini, 90, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson, Iron Mountain, Mich.

He was born January 3, 1932, in Iron Mountain, son of the late John Sr. and Caroline (Kerkes) Constantini. John grew up in Merriman and was a graduate of Kingsford High School, class of 1949. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. John married Sharon Fezatt on February 12, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan.

John spent numerous years maintaining the Moon Lake Baseball Field, which he owned and cherished. He was the manager of the Babe Ruth Baseball Team for many years, and he had a passion for training the young and up and coming players. John could remember his younger years growing up and playing baseball, and he was able to share many of those moments. He coached many all-star games in the area and participated in the annual Labor Day Fastpitch Tournament held in Felch, Mich. At age 87, John was honored on September 2, 2019, at the Felch Tournament, where he received a plaque of appreciation that read, “In appreciation of your love for baseball and dedication to the game.” Many have memories of him successfully pitching at the Felch Tournament over the years. John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the numerous hunting trips he took with his son and family, big game hunting, and the many days spent at his camp.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Sharon Constantini; one son, Michael Constantini, West Jordan, Utah; one daughter, Kim (Bill) Nagy, Breitung Township, Mich.; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard (Patricia) Constantini, Merriman, Mich., Douglas (Dana) Constantini, Spring Lake, Mich., and Robert (Susan) Constantini, Breitung Township, Mich.; three sisters, Marie Gilbrath, Danville, Illinois, Elaine Meinecke, Florence, Wis., and Carol (Greg) Jeske, Menominee, Mich.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Constantini

In accordance with John’s wishes, private family services will be held.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Iron Mountain, Mich., to honor John’s legacy of life.
