Obituary for JoAnn M. Nyholm (Colien)
Crystal Falls- JoAnn M. Nyholm, 85, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, Mich.
She was born August 31, 1936, in Stambaugh, Mich., daughter of the late Joseph and Viola (Rodda) Colien. JoAnn grew up in Iron River and was a graduate of Iron River High School, class of 1954.
She married Rudolph “Rudy” Nyholm on December 30, 1954. Following marriage, they made their home in Crystal Falls. Rudy preceded her in death on November 16, 2008.
JoAnn was a member of United Lutheran Church, serving with the circles, the choir, and WELCA. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 25 years, where she served as secretary. She worked as a cook and baker for both the Crystal Manor and the Crystal Bakery.
JoAnn was especially known for her cakes and cake decorating. She loved cooking for Rudy and her family. JoAnn was an avid reader, crocheting Afghans for everyone, and a dog lover who always had a dog. She loved coffee, hot or cold, all day and right up until bedtime. JoAnn also loved collecting hummingbirds and cardinals.
Survivors include one son, Eric (Patricia) Nyholm, Seward, Alaska; three daughters, Nancy (Scott) Kenney, Crystal Falls, Mich., Diana (Charles) Nordeman, Neenah, Wis., and Karen (Joseph) Puccio, Cottage Grove, Wis.; ten grandchildren, Christina (Jeremy) Maki, Robert (Michelle) Kenney, Thomas (Janna) Nordeman, Megan Nordeman, and Anna (Al) Hiess, Matthew, Joseph, and Christyna Nyholm, Alyssa, and Dominic Puccio; and eight great-grandchildren, Violet, Arlo, Kevin, Noah, Logan, Tauren, Liam, and Luke on the way.
Visitation will be Friday, December 17, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls, Mich. The Funeral Service will be Friday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Pastor D.J. Rasner will officiate. Masks are highly recommended. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
