Obituary for Jeffrey A. "Jeff" Fulton

Iron Mountain- Jeffrey A. “Jeff” Fulton, 65, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Freeman’s Nursing Home, Kingsford, Mich., after a 44 year battle with MS and a week long battle with Covid-19.

He was born October 30, 1955 in Milwaukee, Wis., son of Loyd and Joanne (Gehrt) Fulton. Jeff graduated from Germantown High School, class of 1973. At the age of 21 he was diagnosed with Progressive MS. Despite his debilitating disease he was able to find work as a traveling copier and fax machine repairman with GBC of Wisconsin, where he worked until he moved to the U.P. in 1994.

Jeff eventually settled in Iron Mountain where he became involved in MS support groups and met the woman who would become his devoted wife, Michelle. He met her on April Fool’s Day in 2003 and were soon to realize each of them had met the love of their life. They married on May 22, 2004.

Jeff’s hobbies included building and flying R Airplanes and launching model rockets as well as an attraction to rock music. He loved his music and was the go-to guy for remembering lyrics. If he were sleeping and someone started singing, he would instantly pop up to join in without missing a beat. Anyone who spent time in Jeff’s company would recognize that his personality was dominated by a unique sense of humor. He had the ability to instantly twist any comment or situation into something absurd and comical. He was simply a fun person to hang out with and he managed to keep a positive attitude though the impediments caused by MS. He will remain an inspiration on how to face misfortune and still find joy and humor in life.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Michelle; his father, Loyd Fulton; children, Anna (Tony) Scheifen and Timothy (Sarah) Fulton; grandchildren, Anthony, Julia and Savannah Scheifen; brothers, Chris (Barb) Fulton and Steve (Dona) Fulton; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bess and Glenn Brightman; sister-in-law, Beth Ann Sisco; one niece and several nephews.

Jeff was preceded in death by his loving mother, Joanne.

Due to the pandemic a memorial picnic will be announced in the future.
