Obituary for James M. Barribeau

Iron Mountain- James M. Barribeau, 77, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021, at his home.

He was born December 24, 1943, in Valdosta, Georgia, son of the late Leroy and Alice (LaPointe) Barribeau. James grew up in Kingsford and was a graduate of Kingsford High School. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Coast Guard and returned back to Kingsford following his honorable discharge. James worked for Lodal Inc., Kingsford, for over 20 years. He also drove a school bus and worked at Harvey Pattern, Kingsford, Mich., for a brief period of time.

James was a musician who loved his old-time country and gospel music. He enjoyed playing the guitar and keyboard and would often play with his two brothers and sister.

Survivors include four sons, Michael Barribeau, Alamo, Texas; Robert Barribeau, Goodman-Florence, Wis., Billy Barribeau, Florence, Wis., and Allan (Ava) Barribeau, Kingsford, Mich.; one daughter, Gina (Barribeau) Stiefel, Corpus Christi, Texas, two brothers, Arti Barribeau, Niagara, Wis., and Paco Barribeau, Quinnesec, Mich.; one sister, Diane (Greg) Carlson, Kingsford, Mich.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Monday, July 12, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain, Mich. The American Legion Uren-Cooper-John Post #50, Iron Mountain will accord military honors at graveside.
