Obituary for Irma G. Quinney (Bicigo)

Irma G. Quinney (Bicigo), 98, of Crystal Falls, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility with family and friends by her side.

She was born on November 24, 1924, in Crystal Falls to the late Emil and Noemi (Meneguzzo) Bicigo. Irma attended the Crystal Falls Schools, graduating in 1942. She moved to Detroit and worked at the Packard Motor Company, where she met her future husband. She married Francis (Frank) L. Quinney on October 19, 1946. She moved back to Crystal Falls from Harper Woods, Michigan in 1987. Since then, Irma served as Eucharistic Minister for 18 years at Guardian Angels Catholic Church and volunteered at the Christian Bookstore on Superior Avenue.

She is survived by her loving husband of 76+ years, Frank Quinney and children; Carol (Paul) Foucault, Susan (Mark) Simeoni , Robert Quinney, Darlene (Pat) Ryan , and Gary (Bernadette) Quinney; 3 grandchildren, Marnie (Todd) Martinson, Megan (Derek) Falk, Michael Simeoni; 6 great-grandchildren, Annabella, Nick, Jake, Ella, Tessa, and Brady; 2 sisters-in-law, Jeanette Bicigo and Marge Bicigo; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Irma is preceded in death by her siblings, Iris, Leo, Emil Jr., Bruno, Marlene, and Robert Bicigo.

Visitation will take place Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls, Mich., followed by a Funeral Mass at Guardian Angels Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Fr. Dan Malone will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will take place in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls in the spring.

A special thank you to Dr. Donald Smith and the nursing/care staff at the Iron County Medical Care Center for the wonderful care given to Mom.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Iron County Medical Care Facility - Diversional Therapy Dept in her memory.
