Obituary for Helen June Brown
Vulcan- Helen June Brown, 95, of Vulcan, Mich., passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022, at her home.
She was born June 9, 1927, in Crystal Falls, Mich., daughter of the late Bernard and Sarah (Rostagno) Sanford. June grew up in Norway, Mich. She met her future husband, Alan Brown, in Chicago, Ill., while working for Wurlitzer Piano. They were married on November 5, 1944, and moved to Vulcan in 1949. Together they ran B & B School of Music from 1949 until 1972. June had also worked for Estee Lauder as a buyer and consultant. Alan preceded June in death.
June was very proud to call herself a Mountain Woman”! She skied, rode horses, drove 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, and drove a tractor on her grandmother’s farm. She was a lifelong member of the Grace Methodist Church and was the Sunday School superintendent, where she touched many young lives. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Past Worthy Matron, the Red Hats Society, Norway Vulcan Women’s Club, and many bridge clubs which was her love. She attended the Norway Senior Center in the later years and made many friends and they all loved her.
Survivors include two daughters, Bernadette Brown, Vulcan, Mich., and Georgia Corsi, Vulcan, Mich.; one son, Drew (Karen) Brown, Vail, Ariz.; one sister, Diane Malone, Loretto, Mich.; five grandchildren, Nathan Emerson, Bethany (George) Marc-Aurele, Alana Brown, Sarah Corsi, and Taylor (Will) McNally; four great-grandchildren, Sophia, Ella, and Julia Marc-Aurele, and Archie McNally; one niece, Kim Honcik; great-niece and great-nephew, Kyle and Kayla Honcik; multiple cousins and family from Rostagno’s and the Sanford’s.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alan, June was preceded in death by one son, Alan Brown Jr., and one sister, Donna Sanford.
June didn’t want any services but her family will celebrate her life later this summer.
The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Iron Mountain, Mich., to honor June’s legacy of life.
