Obituary for Hayden M. Campbell

Kingsford- Hayden Michael Campbell, 15, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer on Friday, January 7, 2022, at his home surrounded by love.

He was born on March 29, 2006, in Milwaukee, WI.

Hayden was a determined and strong fighter. He has been fighting since day one when he was born a preemie. Hayden was wheelchair-bound with quad spastic cerebral palsy but did not let that hold him back.

Hayden brightened every room he entered. He had an infectious smile and laugh. His joy for life despite everything was remarkable. Even when he was being mischievous, you could not help but laugh and smile with him. He loved arts and crafts, games, and adventures with his caregiver Nicole. She was a major part of his life for twelve of his fifteen years.

He absolutely loved going to school and seeing all of his favorite teachers, bus drivers, and friends. He was always on the move and going “buh-bye” with his dad. He always had to be in the garage with his dad to make sure he was fixing things right. He loved to pick on his grandma and grandpa Campbell just to get them all worked up.

His two biggest heroes in life were his dad, Toby, and his brother, Dawson. Nothing cheered Hayden up more than those two men.

A tragic end for a life fought so hard. Hayden and his smile will be remembered forever. Every person that entered his life made such an impact, and we want you all to know Hayden was grateful and thankful for all of you.

Hayden is survived by his father, Toby Campbell; brother, Dawson Campbell; grandparents, Patrick and Mary Lou Campbell, and Lynn Mitkowski; uncles, Tom Campbell (Robin Mahoney), and Tony Campbell (Cindy Vivio); aunt, Kim Mitkowski; his cousins; and his caregiver, Nikki Roe.

Hayden was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ron Mitkowski.

A celebration of Hayden’s life will be announced in the future.
