Obituary for Frank M. Bednarski

Florence- Frank M. Bednarski, age 93, of Florence, Wis., passed away Monday, January 6, 2020, at his home.

He was born October 23, 1926, in Portage, Pennsylvania, son of the late Anthony and Mary (Golden) Bednarski. Frank grew up and attended school in Portage and as a sophomore moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he graduated from Wells High School, class of 1945. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army from 1947 until his honorable discharge in 1949. Frank married Delores Bowman on October 21, 1950 in Chicago. In April of 1952, they moved to Commonwealth and started the Bednarski Farm, that still operates today. Delores preceded him in death on December 3, 2014.

Frank was a member of the Florence County Board for many years and was a chairman and supervisor for the town of Commonwealth for many years as well. He was a member of the Florence VFW and was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.

Frank is survived by his son, Mike (Kathy) Bednarski, Commonwealth, Wis.; two daughters, Sharon (Marious) Wilber, Ashland, Wis. and Carol Pufall, Ashland, Wis.; one sister, Catherine Baith, Florence, Wis.; 6 grandchildren, Christine (Fritz) Wenzel, Brenda (Bard) DeClark, Lisa (Quin) Brenna, Michael Bednarski, Delora Pufall and Annette Pufall; 7 great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, and wife Delores, Frank was preceded in death by his stepdad, John Shedlock; son-in-law, Bob Pufall; one sister, Veronica Rybak; and one brother, Joseph Bednarski.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 10, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Florence, Wis. with a Prayer Vigil at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will be again on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence, Wis. with VFW-Florence Post #3635 to accord military honors at 10:45 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Timothy Brandt will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Commonwealth, in the spring.
