Obituary for Everett W. Braden

Florence- Everett W. Braden, 77, of Florence, Wisc., passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at his home.

He was born November 28, 1944, in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of the late Woodrow and Alma Braden. Everett grew up in Arkansas and graduated from New Buffalo, Mich. High School. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era from 1964-1968, when he was honorably discharged. Everett continued to honor his country in civilian life through employment as an ironworker in Local 416 Union from 1971-1991, starting in New Buffalo, Mich., and traveling throughout the United States. From 1991-2015, Everett owned and operated three different bar businesses: Everett’s Curve Inn, Spread Eagle, Wisc.; Everett’s Back Inn, Florence, Wisc.; and the Village Inn, Alpha, Mich.

Everett was a wonderful man that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. He was a character full of life who always had a story to tell and an ear for listening. Because of Everett’s kind heart and generous spirit, he could be found lending a hand to someone in need or supporting generous causes. Everett’s love of the outdoors was shared with others on numerous Harley Davidson rides and fishing trips, exploring the many rivers of Florence County. He was well-known and shared many good times with community members and visitors while running his bar businesses. Everett lived life fully, which was evident when he not only did his chimney sweeping jobs with pride but did them wearing a top hat and tails.

Those closest to Everett knew that he was also the most loving father and grandfather a family could be blessed with. Everett was married to Sue from 1982-1997, after which time they continued to lovingly raise their family. After Everett retired from the bar business in 2015, he enjoyed a quieter life close to his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. He will be especially missed by his four grandchildren, whom he adored.
Survivors include one son, Brian (Jona) Braden; one daughter, Christine (Dave) Braden; one brother, Tom (Nita) Braden; three sisters, Sandy (Kevin) Vonehr, Pat (Tom) Herda, and Linda (William) Sexton; and four grandchildren, Hanah (Collin) Roell, Kameron (Tony) Ward, and twins Briar and Bennett Braden.

In addition to his parents, Everett was preceded in death by two sisters, Vicki Braden and Janet Russell.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the C & R bar in Aurora, Wisc.
