Obituary for Eugene F. Recla
Iron Mountain- Eugene F. Recla, 92, or Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, at his home in Iron Mountain, Mich.
He was born February 2, 1932, in Iron Mountain, Mich., son of the late Roy and Emily (Canavera) Recla.
Eugene grew up in Niagara, Wisc., and graduated from Niagara High School. Following high school, he joined the United States Air Force. After his Honorable discharge from the Air Force, he moved back to Niagara, where he started working for the local paper mill. He eventually worked his way up to become the head Grinderman and retired from the Mill in the late 1980s. In the late 1950s, he married Stella Osieczonek and moved to Iron Mountain, Mich. She preceded him in death on February 28, 2019.
Eugene enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was fond of doing yard work and attending to his garden. He especially loved his roses.
Eugene is survived by his son. Daniel (Mary) Recla; daughters, Dawn (Gerry) Kunick and Tina Salmi; grandchildren, Steven Recla, Jesse Recla, Jason Kunick, Jeff Kunick, Sara (Andy) Recla-Jacobs, Steven Kunick, and Samantha Recla; and 23 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Stella, Eugene was preceded in death by one son, Roy Recla; one brother, Pat Recla; and one sister, Bernadette Sunquist.
A Celebration of life will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday June 1, 2024 at the family home.
