Obituary for Eugene F Alden
Iron Mountain – Eugene F. Alden, 89, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at his home.
He was born on February 19, 1934, in Phillips, Wisc., to the late Eugene and Lorraine (Steiner) Alden.
Eugene grew up in Marenisco. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. After his discharge, he worked for several years at the Jello Factory in Marenisco. He married Sharon Covey on December 8, 1956; she preceded him in death on March 1, 2018. They made their home in Mareniscoc from 1956 until they moved to Iron Mountain in 1962, where he worked as a mechanic for many years at G & H Texaco.
He enjoyed hunting in his younger years and was an avid Packers Fan. His favorite pastime was being in the outdoors, gardening, and painting.
He is survived by his five daughters, Karen Gaffney, Susie Flesch, Sandy Klahn, Patsy “Patty” (David) Studer, and Bonnie Alden; brothers, Ken (Pat) Alden, and Louis (Carol) Alden; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Sharon Alden; brother, Willie Alden; and three sisters, Betty Ducharme, Rita Carlson, and Mary Meyers.
In accordance with Eugene’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
