Obituary for Erik John Francis Kowalski

Erik John Francis Kowalski, 32, of Madison, Wis., passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at his home. He was born September 22, 1989, in Iron Mountain, Mich., son of John and Angela (Tramontin) Kowalski

Erik graduated from Kingsford High School, class of 2007, and received his bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design in 2011 from Edgewood College of Madison, Wis. Erik was a very talented artist and graphic designer. He worked freelance designing web pages.

As a child, Erik loved spending entire summers camping with his family at Sawyer Lake in Channing. He especially treasured his time at camp with his grandma Tramontin whom he shared a very special bond with. He loved to fish, collect rocks and shells, work on art projects, and water skiing. At nine years old, he got his first job delivering the Advertiser. At ten, he moved on to two paper routes for the Daily News, which he kept until he turned fourteen and was able to start working at Taco Bell. He worked at Taco Bell until he left for college at eighteen.

Erik is survived by his parents, John and Angela (Tramontin) Kowalski, Quinnesec, Mich.; four brothers, Elliott and Easton Kowalski, Greenville, North Carolina, Evan Kowalski, Marquette, Mich., and Emmett Kowalski, Quinnesec, Mich.; three sisters, Abby Kowalski Pearson, Iron Mountain, Mich., and Alaina and Alyvia Kowalski, Quinnesec, Mich.; grandparents John and Shirley Tramontin, Quinnesec, Mich. and Bob Kowalski, Niagara, Wis.; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; one nephew, Mason Kowalski, and one niece, Isabella Pearson; his beloved cat Mariah; and special friend Brandon Chicon.

Erik was preceded in death by paternal grandmother Barbara Kowalski, brother-in-law Dave Pearson, and special friend Sunny Neveau.

The family is planning a private memorial service that will be announced at a later date.
