Obituary for Edward C. VanElzen

Kingsford- Edward C. VanElzen, 68, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away Monday, July 12, 2021 at his home.

He was born August 10, 1952, in Appleton, Wis., son of the late Edward M. and Elaine (Parent) VanElzen. Ed grew up in Appleton and was a graduate of Appleton West High School, class of 1970. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge. Ed returned to Appleton for many years and moved to Kingsford, Mich., in 2004 with a job transfer. He worked as a truck driver for Design Air in Kingsford.

He loved the Northwoods, hunting, fishing, and especially the time he spent at the family cabin near Lake Hilbert in Goodman, Wis. Ed was a kind and gentle man who was always happy to help out anyone.

Survivors include his twin brothers, Tom (Judy) VanElzen, Appleton, and Jerry (Cheryl) VanElzen, Appleton; brothers, Cliff (Kathy) VanElzen, Appleton, David VanElzen, Appleton, and Daniel (Nicole Arne) VanElzen, North Fond du Lac, Wis., and Mark (Collette) VanElzen, Zimmerman, Minnesota, two sisters, Bonnie Duhs, Appleton, and Lucy VanElzen, Kalispell, Montana; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was also a godfather to Madeline VanElzen.

Ed will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 20, 2021, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Kaukauna, Wis. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Don Everts will officiate. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna, Wis. Military honors will be accorded at graveside.
