Obituary for Donald E. Krall

Kingsford- Donald “Don” E. Krall, 83, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Bellin Memorial Hospital, Green Bay, Wis.

He was born August 5, 1937, in Antigo, Wis., son of the late Harry and Alice (Swenson) Krall. Don attended Antigo schools, graduating in 1955. He started his college days at the University of Miami, Florida, and finished at Northland College, Ashland, Wis., graduating in 1963. Don proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Army. He was proud to be a military policeman for three years, serving in Fort Meyer, Arlington, Virginia. Don received the good conduct medal before he was honorably discharged. He was inducted into the Northland and Antigo Athletics Hall of Fame.

Don married his wife and best friend, Kay Thompson, on June 21, 1969, in Neenah, Wis. He spent his working life teaching and coaching in various southern WI school systems and also worked in industry at Harley Davidson Motor Company and Kohls. Don retired in 1995 from teaching in the Milwaukee Public Schools. He and Kay retired to the family property in Florence County in 1995 and spent 20 years enjoying the land and family memories. The couple moved to Evergreen Village in Kingsford in 2015.

Don enjoyed hunting, especially bird hunting with his lab, Hershey. He also enjoyed fishing for most of his life but turned to golf in his later years, which he did with his golf buddy, Kay. Don was also an avid Packer fan, reader and loved working on mind puzzles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kay; and one brother, Charles (Lois) Krall, Theresa, Wis.; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Hill, Port Charlotte, Florida.; numerous and all special nieces and nephews; and many close and special friends.

In accordance with Don’s wishes, a private celebration of Don’s life will be held with family and close friends at Lakeview Memorial Park, Oshkosh, Wis. in the spring, where he will be interred.

Memorials can be made to Habitat for Humanity or the local Salvation Army to support the needs of the community in Don’s memory.
