Obituary for Dianna L Giguere (Akers)

Iron Mountain – Dianna L. Giguere, 72, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away on February 12, 2024, at her home.

She was born on April 2, 1951, in Vancouver, Wash., to Patricia (Baggett) O’Day and the late John Akers.
Dianna graduated from Battle Ground High School in Battle Ground, Wash. She married the love of her life, Russ Giguere on March 28, 1981, in Vancouver, Wash.

During their marriage, Russ and Dianna lived in Vancouver, Wash., Fort Bragg, Georgia., Colorado, Germany, Fort Benning, Georgia, and returned to Wash., to be near family before retiring to Iron Mountain, Mich., in 2018.

She worked for a number of years as Network Administrator for the State of Georgia. She enjoyed growing herbs in her garden, being outdoors, computer work, and researching ancestry.

She is survived by her loving husband of forty-two years, Russ Giguere; mother, Patricia O’Day of Battle Ground, Wash.; son, Wade Giguere of Aberdeen, Wash.; daughter, Tonia Oatfield; sister, Linda Mellor; five grandchildren, Jamie, Darren, Brandon, Savannah, and Terry; and two great-grandchildren, Kyler and “Little” Brandon.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by son, Jimmy Oatfield; and granddaughter, Brittany.

A Celebration of Dianna’s will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, May 17, 2024, in Chelatchie Prairie Cemetery, Amboy, Wash. Immediately after the burial, a potluck lunch will be held at Yacolt Recreational Park, 202 W Cushman Street, Yacolt, Wash.

In lieu of floral tributes, the family request that donations be made in Dianna’s honor to Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson Hospice, 722 River Avenue, Iron Mountain, MI 48901 or Dickinson County Cancer Unit Loan Closet, 201 East Breitung Avenue, Kingsford, MI 49802.
