Obituary for Dennis C. Martens
Norway-Dennis C. Martens, 73, of Norway, Mich., passed away peacefully Friday, October 23, 2020 at Florence Health Services, Florence, Wis.
He was born August 15, 1947, in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., son of the late Robert and Mabel (Wood) Martens. Dennis grew up on the family farm in Egg Harbor, Wis. He graduated from Manitowoc High School, Manitowoc, Wis., class of 1967. Following graduation, he worked for Hamilton Manufacturing in Two Rivers, Wis., Peterson Ship Building in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., before moving to Kingsford, Mich. in 1975 where he began a career with M.J. Electric as an equipment operator working all over the country until retiring in 2009.
Dennis passionately enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, camping, traveling and especially creating memories on his fishing trips to Alaska & Canada. He looked forward to his breakfast every morning for over 20 years at Mary’s Place in Beecher, Wis.
Survivors include two sons, David (Michelle Floriano) Martens, Norway, Mich., and Jeremy (Alice) Martens, Whidbey Island, Wash.; two daughters, Jennifer (Jim) Schiller, Newago, Mich., and Jaime (Mark Marsden) Martens; grandchildren: Brooke (Joe Blaszczyk) Martens, Brandon Martens, Christi (Joe) Holstine and children Brayden & Hailee, Ben (Lexie) Schiller and daughter Isabella, Preston (Alexis) Cross and son Sawyer, Michael Schiller, Natosha (Lance) Cross, Racheal & Genevieve Schiller; one brother, Andrew (Vicki) Martens, Appleton, Wis.; one sister, Katherine (Sheila) Rose, Appleton, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary Martens.
Visitation will be held on Friday October 30, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at First Covenant Church, Norway, Mich. Funeral services will be Friday, 11 a.m., at the church. Pastor James Danielson will officiate. Burial will take place on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at 11 a.m. in Egg Harbor Cemetery, Egg Harbor, Wis.
