Iron Mountain - Dennis Frank DeLano 84, a longtime resident of Iron Mountain, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center of Iron Mountain.

Dennis was born in Oak Park, Michigan, on December 28th, 1938, to Alvin and Theresa (Regner) DeLano and graduated from East Detroit High School in 1957. After completing graduation, Dennis proudly served in the 1st Airborne Battle Group 505th Infantry of the United States Army from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1963.

Dennis worked as a landscaper, auto mechanic, lumberjack, and constable, and his greatest love in life was the great outdoors. He was a master fisherman and hunter of large and small game.

Dennis led a simple life. He enjoyed his camp, his garden, feeding his birds, watching the news, reading the local newspaper, and he read hundreds of books. He loved walking in the woods, watching T.V., and snacking on chocolate, hard candy, and slightly burnt cookies. He enjoyed a good bargain and loved shopping at farmers' markets and thrift stores. He was a generous and thoughtful man and an honest and loyal friend for life.

He was the eldest of eight brothers and sisters and is survived by Mary Patrick, Jeanette Maertens, Rene (Rick) Force, Beverly (Paul) Owens, and sister-in-law Sue DeLano. He had four children, survived by three, Patricia I. DeLano, Nicole R. DeLano, and Nathan C. DeLano; five grandchildren, Carol (Josh) Sturm, Miles DeLano- Hale, Levi DeLano-Clark, and Bailey M. DeLano; two great-grandchildren, Alexa and Avery Sturm; former wife, Carol L. Nelson; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Theresa DeLano; his firstborn son, Michael J, DeLano; his loving sister, Theresa Brown; his loving brothers, Gerald and Donald DeLano; his former wife, Linda Pohlson, and his former son-in-law, Tom Glotfelty.

Dennis will be lovingly thought of and missed by his family and close circle of friends, namely The Rowley and Reed families and Rick & Sue.

At Dennis' request, his service will be private.
