Obituary for Clifford J. "Cliff" Huffman

Iron Mountain- Clifford J. Huffman, 41, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, in Mastodon township, Mich.

He was born Sept. 18, 1981, in Duluth, Minn., to Walter and Christine (James) Huffman. Cliff was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain and Crystal Falls, and attended Forest Park High School in Crystal Falls. He lived in Florida for a year and took advantage of the Gulf of Mexico boating and went to many major league baseball games.

Cliff enjoyed sports, particularly the Minnesota Vikings, the Penguins, the University of Michigan Wolverines, and the Chicago White Sox. He was devoted to his teams and dressed in his jerseys for the games, while watching them from his home! He enjoyed listening to AM talk radio in the middle of the night. He was an avid Star Wars and Darth Vader fan. Clifford truly found his passion in being a dad to his son Tristan. Cliff was a single parent. Tristan was his buddy and always at his side. Clifford loved his Cadillac and referred to it as “Tristan and Daddy’s Car.” Cliff survived an aortic dissection in 2020 followed by a second open heart surgery that same year. His health had been challenging since. Clifford was a strong person and dealt with what life threw at him. He loved his family and friends. He was a kind-hearted person unless you kinked his chain! Then, he could become a very colorful character. He was original and always acted real to his being.

Clifford will be sadly missed by many. Survivors include his dad, Wally Huffman, Nashwauk, Minnesota; his mom, Tina (Bob) Black, Crystal Falls, Michigan; one son, Tristan Huffman, Iron Mountain, Michigan; four brothers, Sean (Carrie) Huffman, Seattle, Washington, Troy (Jody) Benolken, Lodi, Wisconsin, Dustin Black, Dora, Alabama, and Tyler (Whitney) Black, Fort Polk, Louisiana; grandma, Christa James, Crystal Falls, Michigan; many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Cliff was preceded in death by his special friend, Julia; grandpa Clifford James; and grandparents Frank and Joyce Huffman. He is also preceded in death by his faithful companion of many years, his dog, Lilly.

A Celebration of Clifford’s life will be held on Sunday, January 15th, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Crystal Lanes, Crystal Falls, Michigan. There will be a memorial talk at 2:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. Clifford will be buried next to his grandpa Clifford James.
