Obituary for Charles Jeffrey "Chass" Peterson

Niagara – Charles “Chass” J. Peterson, 64, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, July 20, 2020, at his home.

He was born November 3, 1955, in Stambaugh, Mich., son of the late Charles E. and Carol (Lundwall) Peterson. Chass grew up in Aurora and graduated from Florence High School. He worked briefly at Tom and Jo’s Liquor Store in Aurora after graduation, Chass then went to college for a year and returned to Aurora to work with Tommy “Jack” Raymond at the Liquor Store who made him feel like family. After many years working there, in the early ‘90s, Chass purchased the liquor store and operated it until his retirement in 2017, at which time he sold it back to the Raymond family. It is now owned and operated by Kelly Martin (Jack and Sandy Raymond’s daughter).

Chass enjoyed playing baseball and softball in his younger years and later became a youth baseball coach and sponsor. He loved playing golf and was a long-time member of the Pine Grove Country Club and most recently was a member at Oak Crest Golf Course in Norway. Chass enjoyed traveling and attending Green Bay Packer football games, playing in the local pool league, and his many trips with friends to Las Vegas.

Chass is survived by one brother Stephen Peterson, Aurora, Wis.; one sister Sandra Wright, Aurora, Wis.; nephew Bruce (Christina) Martin-Wright and his children Seth and Nikolai, all of Madison, Wis.; nephew, Chris (Shayna) Wright; and his daughter, Izadora; all of Madison, Wis.; nephew, Kyle Scroggins, Chicago, Ill.; niece Elizabeth Clark, Iron Mountain, Mich. and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Jane Peterson and Jo Clark.

In accordance with Chass’s wishes private family services will be held.
