Norway- Catherine M. Bourg, 84, of Norway, Mich., passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022, at her
home.
She was born April 13, 1938, in Norway, Mich., daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (DeBernardi)
Bray. Catherine grew up in Vulcan and was a graduate of Vulcan High School, class of 1956. She married
William Bourg on June 23, 1956, at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Vulcan. Together they owned and
operated Bourg’s River Road Bar for 24 years before retiring. Prior to owning the bar, Catherine worked
for Shopko for ten years, and after retiring from the bar, she worked for the Iron Mountain Daily News
for ten years. William preceded her in death on March 29, 2010.
Survivors include her three children, Laurie (Sam) Bray and Bernie (Dan Kostanski) Bourg, both of
Waucedah, Mich., and Louis (Heather) Bourg, Vulcan, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Terri (Joe) Bal, Travis
(Rebecca) Bray, Leann Bray, Summer Bourg, Billy (Amanda Ray) Bourg, Joey Bourg, Amie (Gabe)
Chinnock, and Corrie (Jeff) Maule; ten great-grandchildren, Stevie (Andrew) LaFreniere, Fiona Bray,
Lincoln Bray, Bennett Bourg, Billy (Laura) Burkland, Zetta Kolf, Gabriela Chinnock, Cicilia Chinnock, Ollie
(Camryn) Champeau, and Evan Maule; one great-great-grandson, Asher LaFreniere; and by her sister Barbara Bray.
In addition to her parents and husband, William, Catherine was preceded in death by an infant
daughter, Sherry, and one brother, Benny Bray.
In accordance with Catherine’s wishes, private family services will be held.
The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Iron Mountain, Mich., to honor
Catherine’s legacy of life.
