Obituary for Carol Jean Babcock (Strolberg)

Florence- Carol Jean Babcock, 83, of Florence, Wis., passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Florence Healthcare Services.

She was born July 12, 1938, in Hibbing, Minn., daughter of the late Stanley and Agnes (Saxon) Strolberg. Carol grew up in Iron Mountain and was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School, class of 1956.

Carol was creative, a talented artist, singer, and seamstress. She loved gardening, reading, and learning.
In her younger years, she enjoyed ice skating and riding motorcycles. Having the soul of a gypsy, Carol followed her heart and resided in many areas across the country. She had a strong relationship with God and read her Bible daily. Although life wasn’t always easy, she never lost her great sense of humor.

Carol is survived by four children: Roxanne (Randy) Sparapani, of Kingsford, Mich., Teri (Rich) Struebing, of Quinnesec, Mich., Rick (Shelley) Babcock, of Puyallup, Wash., and John (Tina) Babcock, of Camas, Wash.; two Siblings: Judi Nyholm of Crystal Falls, Mich., and Jim (Linda) Strolberg of Indianapolis, Ind.; eleven grandchildren: Angela (Ty) Counter, Jaime (Mike) Rasmussen, Randee (Travis Eisenreich) Sparapani, Crystal (Zac Hitt) Nelson, Edward (Amy Lippert) Nelson, Brakken (Emilee Crank-Reynolds) Munsey, Ryker (Kaitlyn Long) Babcock, Michael (Taylor Bedard) Babcock, James Babcock, Erik Babcock, Mara Babcock; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 27, 2021, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich. Funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Jim Danielson will officiate. Burial will be in Breitung Township Cemetery, Quinnesec, Mich.
