Obituary for Byron Floyd "Duke" Christensen

Byron Floyd Christensen, 78, of Florence, Wisc., passed away Friday, October 14, 2022, at his home in Florence, Wisc.

He was born October 9, 1944, in Oconto, Wisc., son of the late Ivan and Irene (Kitzmann). Before he could graduate high school, Byron was drafted by the United States Army. After his time in the Army, he was honorably discharged in 1967 and moved to Green Bay, Wisc. Byron soon got a job working maintenance for Procter & Gamble. After 30 years, he retired and moved to Florence, where he had already started building his new home.

Byron, affectionately referred to as” Duke” by his family, enjoyed estate sales, auctions, golf, shooting pool, and hunting. He would spend the winter months in Texas, where he could be found fishing. Byron stayed busy with his numerous hobbies and could often be found tinkering on one of his new acquisitions. He loved his dogs, one, in particular, being extra spoiled. His dog Chipper was given a seat at the table for Thanksgiving, where he would wait patiently as he was spoon fed his meal.
