Obituary for Bonnie J. Herzog (Swanson)

Kingsford-Bonnie J. Herzog, 79, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away from Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare form of cancer on Sunday, November 10, 2019, as she was surrounded by family in the comfort of her home.

She was born August 27, 1940, daughter of the late Clifford and Doris (Duazy) Swanson. Bonnie married Marvin Herzog on May 21, 1960. She was a loyal, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. It wasn’t just her grandchildren that called her “grandma”. She was everyone’s grandma. Bonnie was the loudest in the crowd at her grandchildren’s sporting events. She enjoyed staying active and played hours of pickleball, mahjong, bocce ball, and more with many of her friends. Bonnie truly could make any house a home.

She loved her family so well. Bonnie was an outstanding mother to; Lynn (Jeff) Paupore, Juli VanPembrook, Lisa Flaminio, and Amy (Mark Sleik) Carpenter; she was a committed grandmother and great-grandmother to; Erica Swick and her son Trent; Nicole (Jeremy) Mortl and their children, Aubrey and Camden; Ryan (Angi) Coughlin, Jason Richtig and his children Ryan, Kylie, and Bradley, Michelle (Brandon) Lee and their children, Olivia, Greyson and Abbey, Ashlee (Rick) Kinsey and their son Marvin, Kevin Flaminio, Kinie (Ryan) Gerbig, Derek Carpenter, Megan VanPembrook and Austin VanPembrook.

“Grandma has been a solid source of love, strength, support, wisdom, humor, kindness, sassiness and guidance. Our lives will not be the same without her.”

Marvin and Bonnie would like to thank their many friends for their thoughts and prayers.

In accordance with Bonnie’s wishes private family services were held.
