Obituary for Betty Jean Ring (Howart)
Iron Mountain-Betty Jean Ring, 92, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Freeman Nursing & Rehab, Kingsford, Mich.
Betty was born December 31, 1926, in Iron Mountain, Mich., daughter of the late William and Mary (Beitel) Howart. She was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School. On May 8, 1948, Betty married Donald Ring at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. Donald preceded her in death on June 21, 2009. Betty worked as a secretary for ManorCare Nursing & Rehab., Kingsford, Mich., and later retired from First National Bank, Iron Mountain. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain.
Betty enjoyed wintering in Florida and going to the casino. She loved her family and especially the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by two sons, Richard L. (Caryl) Ring, and Don H. (Carrie) Ring, both of Iron Mountain; one sister, Jeanette Butman, Marinette, Wis.; five grandchildren, Scott (Angela) Ring, Susan (Rob) LaCrosse, Sarah (Ryan) Sullivan, Nicole (Michael) Connors, and Michael Ring; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A Memorial Mass will take place on Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
