Obituary for Barbara A Westrich (Westcott)

Niagara – Barbara A. Westrich, 72, Niagara, Wisc., passed away Thursday, July 4, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 21, 1946, in Bonavista, New Foundland, daughter of the late Luke and Rita (Doyle) Westcott.

Barb married Michael Westrich on May 22, 1965, in St. John’s, New Foundland, he preceded her in death on February 23, 2013. They resided in New Foundland for two months before moving to Rhode Island where her husband continued his career with the US Navy. They lived in many different locations along the East Coast before they retired and moved to Niagara in 1986.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Barb was a caregiver, a spit-fire, devoted, selfless, loving, and a strong, brave person. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved having her coffee, but most of all cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons Paul Michael (Tricia Lynn) Westrich, Niagara, Wisc., Dale Jacob (Margaret Mary) Westrich, Verona, Wisc., Anthony George (Rhoda Austria) Westrich, North Smithfield, R.I.; two daughters Janet Margaret (Guy Edward) DeCremer, Niagara, Wisc., Sarah Elizabeth Westrich, Pryor Lake, Minn.; fourteen grandchildren, Joshua (Ariel), Justine, Autumn, Amber (Michael), Christopher (Sarah), Jeremy, Alyssa, Ashley, Alexis, Jake, Tyler, Tristan, Aurora and Talia; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband Michael, Barbara was preceded in death by one son Theodore “Ted” Westrich; one grandson Zachary DeCremer; two brothers Wally and Frank Westcott; two sisters Annie Bingle and Shirley Barrington; and her father and mother-in-law Henry and Helen Westrich.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2019, from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara, Wisc. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 am at the church. Rev. Fr. Michael Lightner will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery, Niagara, Wisc.

A memorial will be established in Barb’s memory.
