Obituary for Arthur James McIntosh

Beecher-Arthur James McIntosh, age 88, of Beecher, Wis., died Friday, February 22, 2019, at his home in rural Town of Beecher. Arthur was born in Milwaukee on January 24, 1931, son of the late Arthur McIntosh and Dorothy (McConkey) Matthews. He spent much of his youth in Milwaukee at the lake or in the parks with his brothers and friends fishing. He enlisted in the Army in 1951 at the age of 17 and served with honor in the Korean War.

Arthur returned to the United States and lived a life working hard as a flooring installer. He spent most of his career working for himself and worked all over Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Arthur loved fishing, especially when he was able to fish in Canada. He and his wife Ruth retired to rural Town of Beecher around 1993. He enjoyed his retirement and filled his time fishing, walking his woods with his beloved dog Blue, feeding the birds, and family visits. Arthur loved watching wildlife and befriended many chipmunks and sparrows providing an endless supply of sunflower seeds. He was an excellent woodworker and made furniture for neighbors, friends, and family. Arthur loved coffee, and he rarely missed a Friday Fish Fry. He will be missed by family, lifelong friends, and neighbors.

Survivors include three daughters, Ginger (Phil Haney) Helgeson, Kenosha, Wis., Cheryl Dalin, Kenosha, Wis., and Lynn (Bob Rhynas) McIntosh, Howards Grove, Wis.; one brother, David (Marilyn) McIntosh, Theresa, Wis.; five grandchildren, Tory (Arielle Needham), Annie (Curt Spoerlein), Shaun, Chris, Meghan and Keegan; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife Ruth, Arthur was preceded in death by one brother, Alvin.

The family deeply appreciates the care from Dickinson Neurology as well as the care and support of his longtime neighbors.

In accordance with Arthur’s wishes, private family services will be held.
