Obituary for Arla Piatti (Murray)

Iron Mountain- Arla Piatti, 95, of White Birch Village, passed away Monday, June 1, 2021, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility, Powers, Mich.

She was born December 29, 1925, in Darlington, Wis., daughter of the late John and Evelyn (Bates) Murray. Arla moved as a child with her family to Iron Mountain and attended Iron Mountain Schools, graduating with the class of 1944. She later attended Northern Michigan University, where she studied art and design.

On May 11, 1946, Arla married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Piatti. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary this year and enjoyed 47 years together at their summer cottage at Keyes Lake and traveling for 25 years to their winter home in Bradenton, Florida. They returned home again to Iron Mountain in 2003.
Arla enjoyed her children, grandkids, and great-grandchildren. They were here pride and joy. Arla loved to sing and was an award-winning oil painter.

She is survived by her loving husband of 75 years, Gerald Piatti; one sister, Judy Wilkins, San Antonio, Texas; one son, Randall (Keri Hyland) Piatti; six grandchildren, Josh (Gina) Adler, Tarzana, Calif., Justin (Danialle) Adler, Woodland Hills, Calif., Andrew (Michelle) Vassar, Dawsonville, Georgia, Joseph Piatti, Oconto, Wis., Jason Piatti, Kingsford, Mich., and Jennifer Bates, Pacific, Missouri; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many great family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Arla was preceded in death by two daughters, Jill Adler in 1974 and Lynn (Brian) Vassar in 2019; three sisters, Zona Piacenza in 2000, Gloria Flaminio in 2008, and Doris Smith in 2015.

In accordance with Arla’s wishes, private family services will be held. Burial will take place in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain, Mich.
