Obituary for Alvin John "Al" Baker

Niagara- Alvin “Al” John Baker, 81, of Niagara, Wis. died on Monday, June 8, 2020 with his wife Vicky by his side.

Al was born on November 27, 1938 in Iron Mountain, MI to the late John and Lucille (Dubey) Baker. He grew up in Niagara where he spent his summers on water skis or running around bare foot at the family cottage on Timm’s Lake. After Graduating from Niagara High School, Al worked for 39 years at the Niagara Paper Mill. After retirement, he spent his time traveling and donating to the casinos with Vicky.

When he was not at work, Al enjoyed hunting and fishing. He cherished spending time with his son Scott “fixing” things. Most of all, he loved sitting by the campfire at the lake with his family and friends.

Al is survived by his wife of 21 years Vicky; his sister, Bernice Bal; son, Scott (Beth); daughter, LuAnn (Arnie Conklin) Buschmann; step children, Stacy (Greg VanAtter) Evrard; Jenny (Neil) Evrard-Larson; Nathan (Sara) Evrard; grandchildren, Jessica (Christian) Welter; Stephanie (Adam) Hull; Jessi Buschmann; Tyler Oien; Ciara Ellis; Ivy Evrard; Noah Larson; great grandchildren, Zac Ellis; Riley Oien; Arkham Marvin; and special lake friends, Marty, Tammy and Haley Bouche.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; sisters, Mary Koss; Alice Rose; and his cherished grandson, Cody Buschmann.

Graveside services will be held Friday, July 3, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at the Niagara Cemetery. A celebration of Al’s life will be held that Friday at 12:00 p.m. at the Baker’s cottage on Timm’s Lake.
