Obituary for Alton V. Wraight

Homestead – Alton V. Wraight, 79, of Homestead, Wis., passed away, Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, Mich.

He was born November 18, 1940, in Wyandotte, Mich. son of the late Vernon and Doris “Maxine” (Higley) Wraight. Alton grew up and was raised in Wyandotte and graduated from Roosevelt High School, class of 1958. He worked all of his life as an automobile mechanic in both Wyandotte and Adrian, Mich. and early on he eventually moved to Romulus, Mich. where he continued as a mechanic and operated his family farm. Alton worked for Dick Genthe Chevrolet, Southgate, Mich., for many years before retiring. In 1992 Alton moved to Carleton, Mich. where he lived in a farmhouse and continued his hobby. In 2015 he moved to Homestead, Wis.

Over the years he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, flowers, fishing, the outdoors, and time spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his special friend and companion, Arlene Lillo; one son Jerry Wraight, Carleton, Mich.; one daughter Kelly Oliver, Carleton, Mich.; one sister Deanna (Phil), of Harris, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Kylie, Eric, Kayla, Kristina, Angella, Krystal and Jeremy; one niece, Audra Combs; two cousins, Kathy and Sharon Higley; and by numerous other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Alton was preceded in death by one daughter, Dawn (Kevin) Gilstorff.

In accordance with Alton’s wishes, private family services will be held.
