Iron Mountain-Alice J. Linville, age 78, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at her home.

She was born December 18, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late Phillip E. and Elvie S. (Swanson) Gustafson. In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her brother, Carl. Alice grew up in Chicago and attended Amundsen High School. She and her family spent summer months in Iron Mountain where her grandparents, Einar and Emma Swanson lived. Alice as a child attended church and went to Bible camp at Covenant Harbor, Wis. She had many stories to tell of her life including singing on a radio show with her siblings, Phillip, Carl and Ellen. Alice was married to Henry Bee, who is now deceased. Together they raised four beautiful daughters. They opened their home to friends and family over the years. On September 20, 1980 she was united in marriage to Larry R. Linville and have spent 38 years together. Alice and Larry moved to Iron Mountain on November 1, 2013. She worked as a unit secretary at Illinois Masonic Hospital and Swedish Covenant Hospital, both in Chicago. She also worked at the Hampton Inn at Skokie, Ill.

Alice was involved in the church and the community. She loved the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. She cheered on the Packers as well. Alice enjoyed shopping, playing Bingo, and traveling to see family and friends in Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, and Florida.

Survivors include her husband, Larry; four daughters, Debra (Ken) Kulesza, Hanover Park, Illinois, Pamela (Ray) Sobie, Hoffman Estates, Illinois, Lisa Bee, South Bend, Illinois and Sandra (Steve) Krieger, Cape Coral, Florida; one brother, Phillip (Barbara) Gustafson, Lawrenceville, Georgia; one sister, Ellen Ortiz, Park Ridge, Illinois; 44 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and by her beloved fur babies Kadie and Kellie.

Visitation will take place Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the First Covenant Church, Iron Mountain, Mich. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Pastor Tom Beckstrom and Pastor Kevin Sullivan will concelebrate. Burial will take place in Memory Gardens, Arlington Heights, Illinois at a later date.

The family would like to express a special thank you to family and friends for their thoughts and prayers during this time. They would also like to thank the staff at Dickinson County Hospital and Hospice for their care, as well as the First Baptist Church and First Covenant Church of Iron Mountain for their love and support during this time.
