Obituary for Alice M. Branam (LaFave)

Iron Mountain-Alice M. Branam, age 83, of Green Bay, Wis., passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Emerald Bay Memory Care, Hobart, Wis. following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Alice was born July 13, 1935, in Iron Mountain, Mich., daughter of the late Raymond and Florence (Pokinghorne) LaFave. She grew up in Iron Mountain and was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School.

Alice raised her family in Escanaba, Mich. She managed a bakery and deli for many years in Escanaba before purchasing Murph’s Tavern in Gladstone. Alice operated the tavern for many years before being forced to sell because of having to battle cancer. After successfully battling cancer she attended Bay De Noc Community college to earn her Certified Nursing Assistant degree. Alice loved working as a CNA for Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba but was forced to retire due to health issues.

Alice played softball and enjoyed bowling in her younger years. She then took up playing golf at the Terrace Country Club, which she loved. Most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Scott Branam and Bob Branam; grandchildren, Hilary and Robby; and one brother, George LaFave, Iron Mountain.

In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette Bouchey; one brother, Robert Masey.

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, May 6, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. eastern time at All Saints Catholic Church, Gladstone, Mich. Fr. James Ziminski will officiate. Burial will take place in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain, Mich., on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. central time.
