Obituary for Albin H. Dill Jr.

Kingsford- Albin H. Dill Jr., 81, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Freeman Nursing & Rehab., Kingsford, Mich.

He was born July 23, 1941, in Stephenson, Mich., son of the late Albin H. Sr. and Eleanor (Cashman) Dill. He grew up in Stephenson and was a graduate of Stephenson High School, class of 1960. Albin married Kay Johnson on January 6, 1962, at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Kingsford, Mich. Albin worked as a welder and a mechanic for the Dickinson County Road Commission for 31 years before retiring.

He was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the American Legion Post #50, and the Sons of the American Legion. Albin was also a member of the Antique Tractor Club and the Northwoods Tractor Club and was instrumental in starting Out of the Darkness, AFSP. He was very mechanical and enjoyed driving stock cars and visiting with people.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Kay Dill; one daughter, Tina (Paul) Tappy, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; one brother, Neil (Ann) Dill, Vulcan, Mich.; three sisters, Connie Dill, De Pere, Wis., Nina (Don) Thiry, Hermansville, Mich., and Wendy (Bob) Bryant, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; one granddaughter, Deanna (Matt) Balkum; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Alayna.

In addition to his parents, Albin was preceded in death by one son, David Dill; one brother, Wesley Dill; and an infant sister, Lorena Dill.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich. A celebration of life will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Michael Woempner will officiate.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Iron Mountain, Mich., to honor Albin’s legacy of life.
