Obituary for Jean A. Haanpaa

Jean A.  Haanpaa
Iron Mountain-Jean A. Haanpaa, 58, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017, at her home.

She was born May 30, 1959, in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Roger and Joan (Sertich) Chagnon. Jean grew up in Baraga, Mich., and graduated from Baraga High School, Class of 1983. She resided in L’anse, Mich. and later Baraga until 1991 at which time she moved to Iron Mountain. Jean worked as a nurse’s aide at ManorCare Health Services and Evergreen Assisted Living. In 2008, she went to work for Trico.

Jean enjoyed the outdoors, walking, going to the beach, taking pictures and especially the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by four sons, Gerald Lancour Jr., Kingsford, Mich., Eric Haanpaa, Lower Mich., Robert Haanpaa, Marinette, Wis. and Scott Haanpaa, Iron Mountain; two daughters, Amelia Haanpaa, Iron Mountain and Emily Manning, Escanaba, Mich.; one sister, JoEllen (Charlie) Webb, Covington, Mich.; and seven grandchildren, Brayden, Brody, McKenzie, Zoe, Shyla, Weston and Zack.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by one sister, Jody Brown.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 29, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich. A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. James Danielson will officiate.
