Esther H. Quayle, 90, of Crystal Falls, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls.

She was born July 19, 1919, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Charles and Helmi (Niiranen) Nordeman. She married Claude Quayle on September 4, 1937, in Crystal Falls. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1985.

Esther grew up in Crystal Falls and graduated from Crystal Falls High School, Class of 1937. She worked at Crystal Manor as a cook for 16 years, retiring in 1981. Esther was a member of United Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Crystal Falls.

Survivors include one son, Douglas Quayle, Crystal Falls; and three grandchildren, Timothy, Robert, and Katherine Quayle. She was preceded in death by, her parents, husband, one son, Robert Quayle, on January 21, 1995; one grandson, R. Scott Quayle; and two brothers, Oliver and Armas Nordeman.

Funeral Information

Visitation will be Friday, February 5, 2010, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Rev. Michael Laakko will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
