Gerald Michaud, 79, of Spread Eagle, Wis., passed away Friday, January 8, 2010, at ManorCare Health Services, Kingsford, Mich. He was born April 30, 1930, in Iron Mountain, Mich. son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Smithson) Michaud. Gerald grew up and attended school in Iron Mountain. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Gerald married the former Rosie Jackson on March 4, 1950, in Dayton, Ohio. They resided in Dayton for one year before moving to Iron Mountain in 1951. Gerald worked for Kingsford Chemical Company for a short time and later as a Nurse Aide at the Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center, Iron Mountain, for 36 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion Uren-Cooper-Johnson Post No. 50, Iron Mountain. Gerald enjoyed traveling to Florida, after his retirement. He was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially cooking. Gerald is survived by his wife, Rosie Michaud; two sons, Gary Michaud, Terry Michaud, both of Spread Eagle; three daughters, Norma (Gary) Apolskis, Florence, Joan (Rodney Rochon) Mier, Grace (David) Hiltunen Michaud, both of Spread Eagle; one brother, Fredrick (Mary) Michaud, Spread Eagle; two sisters, Joann (Richard) DeVore, Green Bay, Wis., Jeanette Sheldon, Felch, Mich.; nine grandchildren, Albert Martin, Michael Juneau, Robert (Olivia) Mier, Matthew (Emma) Mier, Evan Hiltunen, Stephanie Hiltunen, Lisa (Robert) Christian, Jan Weber, Jenny Weber; many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Niles Hiltunen and Christopher Juneau.
