Mary Lou Egan, 79, of Florence, Wis., formerly of Iron River, Mich., passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain. She was born June 1, 1930, in Iron River, Mich., daughter of the late John “Emil” and Emma “Mabel” (Jensen) Johnson. Mary Lou grew up on Ice Lake Road in Iron River and graduated from Iron River High School, Class of 1948. She married David Kinney; he preceded her in death. Mary Lou married James “Ben” Egan on February 14, 1971; he preceded her in death in 1987. Mary Lou worked as a telephone operator, as a secretary at the Iron River schools, at the Long Lake Post Office, and the Iron River Nursing Home as a nurse aide for 10 years. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and the senior center, and also playing games with her sister, Verna. Mary Lou also enjoyed her weekly card club. She is survived by four daughters, Penny Wickstrom, Florence, Darsie (Christopher) Meloche, Owosso, Mich., Karen McMullen, Long Lake, Wis., Pam (Rayne) Smith, Pulaski, Wis.; three sons, Duane (Maychen) Kinney, Allyn, Wash., Warren (Patty) Egan, Cavour, Wis., Tim (Candy) Egan, Livingston, Mont.; 23 grandchildren, Sara (Byron) Moore, Grace, Ruth, Duane, Jr., Hannah, Isaac, and Angela Kinney, Jamie (Amber) Wickstrom, Paul (Stephanie) Wickstrom, Dr. Bret (Liebe) Wickstrom, Danye’l (Tom) O’Dell, Adam (Lea) Meloche, Cristal (Jim) Chesnut, Shan (Sherri) Egan, Kelly (Ken) Egan-Carroll, Kayla Egan, Cody Egan, Raina (Matt) Burton, Malorie Smith, Bailey Smith, Misty, Ivan, and Jacob Egan; numerous great-grandchildren, one sister, Verna Wales, Stambaugh, Mich.; many nieces and nephews. Mary Lou was preceded in death by one grandson, SFC Lance Cornett; one sister, Delores “Dodo” Koponen; and three brothers, Wallace, Harland, and Marvin Johnson (Mary Lou’s twin brother).
