Iron River-William J. Hooper, 90, of Iron River, Mich., passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Freeman Nursing & Rehab., Kingsford, Mich.

He was born October 21, 1927, in Iron River. William proudly served in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Marcille and she preceded him in 2013. They resided in Iron River and Idaho for a few years before returning back to Iron River. They also resided for a short period of time in Florence, Wis., and Crystal Falls, Mich. William worked as an auto mechanic all of his life and he enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.

He is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Donaldson, Fond du Lac, Wis.; one brother, Donald Hooper, Iron River; seven grandchildren, Justin, Corey and Derick Donaldson, Keith and Craig Hooper, Tammy LaDuran and Dannilynn McCoy; and ten great-grandchildren, William and Robert Donaldson, Sierra Hooper, Crystale Poquette, Joe Poquette, Shane LaDuran, Kaylen and Christopher Nance, and Kyle and Brad Murray.

In addition to his parents and wife, Marcille, William was preceded in death by one son, Gary Hooper; two daughters, Karen Hooper and Billie Jo Hooper, two brothers, Clifford and Clyde Hooper; one half- sister, Joy; and one granddaughter, Nicole Donaldson.

Private family services will be held. Burial will take place at Bates Township Cemetery, Bates Township, Mich. in the spring.
