Robert C. "Bob"  Neuens
Aurora – Robert “Bob” Clarence Neuens, 85, of Aurora, Wisc., passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017, at the Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Medical Center, Iron Mountain, Mich.

He was born October 9, 1931, in Aurora, son of the late Clarence and Sophie (Skell) Neuens. Bob grew up and attended school in Aurora. He graduated from Kingsford High School class of 1949. He served our country in the United States Air Force in the Philippines during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the service, Bob moved back to Aurora. He married Elsie Asplund on October 20, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aurora. Bob worked for many years at Elmer’s Hardware in the small engine department as a mechanic and in the sales department. In 1969, he purchased Ted’s Service Station in Aurora from his uncle and turned it into Bob’s Midland. The business is still under family ownership today and is operated by his son Doug and grandson Nick.

Bob was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Aurora V.F.W., and the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department. He dedicated many years to coaching the Babe Ruth Baseball Team in Aurora. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and going to camp. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his family friends and grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elsie; five sons Don (Janet), Doug (Cheryl), Dean (Shelly), David (Lori) and Daryl (Jodi) all of Aurora; one brother Norman “Butch” Neuens, Iron Mountain; one sister Joanne Berutti, Iron Mountain; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Thomas Berutti.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 27, 2017, 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited Thursday, 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aurora, Wisc.. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora-Homestead Cemetery. The V.F.W. Post #3635 and the American Legion Meyers – Youngell Post #211 of Florence will accord military honors at graveside.
