Obituary for Richard J. Recla

Richard J.  Recla
Quinnesec-Richard J. Recla, 87, of Quinnesec, Mich., passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, Mich.

He was born June 1, 1930, in Breitung Township, Mich., son of the late James and Louise (Tippet) Recla. At a young age, Richard entered the United States Army during WWII and later the Korean War. He was honorably discharged and resided in Lansing, Mich. Richard married Florence Parling on January 24, 1953, in St. Johns, Michigan. While living in Lansing, Richard worked for Fischer Body until 1964. In 1964, they moved to California where he worked as a mechanic until 1982. In 1982, Richard and Florence moved to Quinnesec, and he worked for Dickinson County Hospital in security. They owned and operated the Early Attic from 1987 until 1994. He then worked for over 10 years with Cloots and Swanson as a delivery person.

Richard was very handy and was known to be able to do any job.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Florence; three sons, Tim Recla, Quinnesec, Richard “Jamie” (Clara) Recla, Marietta, Calif., and Christopher Recla, Quinnesec; one brother, William (Nancy) Recla, Quinnesec; three sisters, Dorothy Alberti, Quinnesec, Marian (Dean) Ruhf, and Charlotte Secord, both of lower Michigan; one half-sister, Beverly (James) Leslie, Lower Michigan; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by one daughter, Pam Mahan April 30, 2017; and one half-sister, Kathleen Quick.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 14, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at Breitung Township Cemetery, Quinnesec, Mich. The American Legion Uren-Cooper Johnson Post #50, Iron Mountain, will accord Military Honors at graveside.
