Obituary for Cheryl Ann Hafeman (Gill)

-Cheryl Ann (Gill) Hafeman, 72, of Janesville, Wis. formerly of Pembine, Wis., was called to a better life on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Mercy Hospice, Janesville, following a short illness.

Cheryl was born September 17, 1944, in Hazel Green, Wis., daughter of the late Paul and Theda (McDonald) Gill. She graduated from Belmont High School, Class of 1962. Cheryl went on to graduate from the University of WI-Platteville in 1967 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Language Arts, Social Studies, Junior High. Cheryl later received her Master’s Degree in Curriculum from Northern Michigan University, Marquette, Mich. as she was driven by her love of children.

She taught at Walker Junior High in the Milwaukee Public School system from 1967 until 1969. Cheryl joined the teaching staff at Pembine High School and taught from 1969 until her retirement in 1999. She also taught for University of WI-Green Bay and Bay-de-Noc Community College, West Campus, Iron Mountain, Mich. until a stroke in 2002 ended her career she loved.

Over the years, Cheryl earned many awards and certifications in her exceptional career. She married John P. Hafeman on June 21, 1975.

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 42 years and the love of her life, John; one son, Christopher (Lisa) Hafeman and twin granddaughters, Evelyn and Emily all of Poynette, Wis.; three daughters, Meghan Ann and Suzann, both of Kenosha, Wis. and Sarah Ann, Milwaukee, Wis.; one sister, Judy Richards, Janesville; two brothers, David Gill, Platteville, Wis. and Bill Gill, Fall River, Wis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Breen Elizabeth Hafeman and an infant brother, Terry Gill.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church, Pembine. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 1:30 p.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in Pembine Cemetery, Pembine, Wis.
