Obituary for Dan C. McCoy

Florence-Dan C. McCoy, 68, of Fern, Wisc., passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at his home.

He was born February 12, 1949, in Stambaugh, Mich.; son of the late Fred and Ella (Olson) McCoy. Dan grew up in Florence. He married Debra Nichols on July 26, 1974 in Crystal Falls, Mich. They resided in Florence and Fern, Wis. all of their married life.

Dan worked for Florence County, the Town of Florence and for the past many years has been self employed as an excavator in Florence county.

He enjoyed golfing, canoeing, loved working, and especially the times spent with his family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Debra McCoy; one son, Edward (Jessica) McCoy, Fern; three daughters, Penny (Jerome) Florek, Fern, Tammy (Mark) LaDuron, Milwaukee, Wisc. and Dannilynn (Craig) McCoy; one brother, Rick McCoy, Florence, Wisc.; three sisters, Linda McCoy, Florence, Sandy McCoy, Fern, and Shirley (Scott) Waite, Florence; and twelve grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas, Lacey, Lexie, Logan, Crystale, Kaylen, Joseph, Kyle, Brad, Shane and Christopher.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by one daughter, Amanda McCoy 1992; three sisters, Rosalie Anderson, Nora McCoy and Phyllis Novak.

A celebration of Dan’s life will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Florence Community Center, Florence.
