Obituary for Eleanor E. LaLiberte (Jolette)

Eleanor E. LaLiberte (Jolette)
Eleanor (Jolette) LaLiberte, after 104 years with us, passed away at Maryhill Manor in Niagara on Saturday, February 4, 2017.

She was born July 21, 1912 on a farm in the Town of Niagara, daughter of Philip and Salina (Daigle) Jolette.

She graduated from Niagara High School in 1930, an accomplishment that gave her great pride.

Her marriage to Clayton “Cheboy” LaLiberte took place on August 12, 1935 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara, Wisconsin. They had been married for forty years when he died on September 5, 1975.

Eleanor had a strong work ethic. She began her working career in the laundry at the Kimlark Inn and quickly advanced to head cook. When the Inn became Maryhill Manor, she worked as a nurse’s aide. Eleanor was also a recorder for the Royal Neighbors Insurance Company for many years. She was an active member of the St. Anthony Christian Mothers and was president for several years.

Her love of baking and cooking were well known and appreciated by those around her. She especially liked giving cookies to her grandchildren and neighborhood children. Eleanor was talented in ceramics and knitting making many beautiful gifts for family and friends. She enjoyed many happy times with her bridge club women and with her dart ball team members. She liked to socialize and it was always easy to locate her in a crowd due to her unique, happy laughter. She was a very loving, caring wife, mother, and grandmother and is leaving all with many fond memories.

She is survived by her son, Bruce (Eileen) LaLiberte of Niagara, daughter Bonnie Stahl of Milwaukee and brother, Gerald Jolette of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Four grandchildren; Brian (Lois) LaLiberte of Manitowoc, WI, Michele (Glenn) Lantagne of Niagara, Julia (Jim) Lautenschlaeger of Belgium, WI and Daniel (Kim) Stahl of Franklin, WI and fourteen great grandchildren.

Her family wishes to extend their gratitude and appreciation for the loving care she received at Maryhill Manor. Not only the high level of professional care, but especially the love expressed to her by the entire staff.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara.
