Crystal Falls-Vincent Paul Brewster, 69, of Crystal Falls, Mich. passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at UP Health Systems, Marquette, Mich., after suffering a massive stroke six days before.

He was born on March 19, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Paul and Mary Brewster. Vince’s family eventually moved to Michigan. In his sophomore year of high school Vince formed and took great pride in a Kalamazoo rock band where he played drums and emceed. He went on to earn his Associates Degree in Accounting from Saginaw Valley State University. Vince enlisted in the United States Navy in 1967 and served aboard the U.S.S. Ramsey, a DEG-2 Destroyer, Guided Missile in the Pacific West during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1969.

In 1976, Vince moved to Charlevoix, Mich. where he established, owned and operated Modern Upholstery and Fabrics for 32 years as a master upholsterer. In 1988, he married the love of his life, Christine Rodgers of Pulaski, Wis., after crossing paths in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

Vince and his wife relocated to the Crystal Falls area in 2010 upon their retirement. They lived out their dream by purchasing and living in a quaint log cabin in the woods.

He was an avid member of the Charlevoix Area Buffs, a radio control group in Charlevoix, and the Chippewa Sno-Kats Trail Club, Inc in Crystal Falls. His hobbies included building radio control airplanes, fly tying and fly fishing, and creating/inventing solutions to simplify other people's lives.

He is survived by his wife Christine Brewster (Rodgers), Crystal Falls, one daughter Jackie Brewster, Grand Rapids, Mich.; two grandchildren Maxwell Vincent and Maria Jules both of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one brother-in-law Kevin Green, East Lansing, Mich., two nephews Bryan and Sean Green, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to his parents Vince was preceded in death by one daughter, Julie Brewster, one sister, Dolores Green, East Lansing, and his three beloved dogs, Watson, Holly, and Holmes.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 16, 2017 from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls.
